Grr.... woke up this morning at 6 a.m. thinking, "holy cow my throat hurts!" Got up and took some more meds and began my normal "school day" routine. Get Xander's school clothes out & ready, make breakfast for him, and get him up before everyone else so we can have a few minutes of "mommy-Xander" time! He thrives on those few minutes.... if we don't get it, he has a meltdown (as we, unfortunately, discovered last week)!! Anyways, did all my normal stuff, got him out of bed to start eating breakfast on my lap...so we could snuggle. After his first bite of food, he starts crying... "my throat hurts mommy!" Uh-Oh... did the strep-monster strike again? Got out my flashlight, made him open wide and say "ahhhh"... and sure enough, his tonsils are swollen and throat is BRIGHT red! So... no school for Xander today. Figured I better get him to the doctor before the Great Blizzard of 2011 strikes! Off to the doctor we go......... strep test: POSITIVE... back home to rest & take antibiotics! Poor little man! I feel bad for sharing my icky with him! As the day progressed, all the kids became cranky & irritable...sure hope they aren't gonna be next in line for strep! This is awful!!
Got to talk to a great friend today... Laurisa! I love days when we can talk.... seems like we've never been apart! We made plans for a visit for March... it may only be for a day or two, but I love getting a friend-fix!! Miss her!!
As I mentioned, we're expecting a great winter storm... should be moving into my area right about....NOW! They are saying 2-3 inches of ice, PLUS, 10-15 inches of snow over the course of the next 36 hours! What fun this should be....!! Oklahoma doesn't get weather like this ... EVER! I have lived here since 1998 and we've not had it THIS bad for as long as I've been here! Of course, that's assuming it REALLY gets as bad as they're predicting! It will be sad if we lose power... I won't get to blog!! LOL... just kiddin...it'll be sad for many other reasons too!! Here's hoping we all stay warm & safe during what is likely to be the "Storm of the Century!"
