On days like today, I like to sing Mr. Rogers' song: "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor...would you be mine? Could you be mine? I have always wanted to have a neighbor JUST LIKE YOU...I've always wanted to live in the neighborhood with you, so... let's make the most of this BEAUTIFUL day...since we're together we might as well stay... Could you be mine? Would you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Won't you please; won't you please? Please won't you be... my neighbor!" Can't you just picture him singing it while he's changing his sweater & shoes? Gee golly, I miss good TV (LOL)!
Xander played "Matchmaker" today! We went to the mall with my friend, Kym, to let the kids play. Kim has 20 month old identical girl twins! Xander was following one of them around, introducing her to people... very cute- you just HAD to see it! He took Kym's daughter, A, over to Jonathan & "introduced" them to each other. She leaned over and kissed him.... SO CUTE! Then, a little bit later, Asher and A, were sharing a snack. Asher was feeding her one piece at a time... then she'd clap- happy and excited! I love watching the kids interact...so fun!
After the mall, we went shopping with my mom-in-law! Found a great deal- Xander's TBall Helmet: $1 !! No folks, that's not a mis-print, it was really $1 at KMart!!! I was in shock! Everywhere that I've looked...even on Craigslist & Ebay, the cheapest that I've found was $8! I have no idea why they had just this one helmet marked down to a dollar...maybe it was God- He did it for me! :) After shopping, we went to Taco Bueno.... I LOVE BUENO! It was overly crowded, but it's spring break here, so that explains it! I was a little irritated by the fact that they only have 3 high chairs for the entire restaurant... had to feed the kids in their strollers! They looked so pathetic down under the table in the stroller! Oh well, I am fairly certain it won't scar them for life!! LOL
Got the AWESOME (not) privilege of explaining what smoking a cigarette is to Xander today. We were walking out of Taco Bueno with my MIL and he saw someone smoking. He asked what they were doing. So, my MIL said "Oh she's just smoking a cigarette!" ... now personally, I would've said "I don't know" so as to avoid the long explanations, but she said it first.... so for the next several minutes, I worked on explaining the "complexities" of cigarettes to my child! He kept saying, "But mommy, why do people like to suck on smoke?" HOW ON EARTH DO YOU EXPLAIN TO A 4 YEAR OLD WHY PEOPLE ENJOY SUCKING ON SMOKE????? Fortunately, my phone rang & interrupted the conversation, and...so far... he hasn't brought it up again!!
Tonight is Xander's first T-Ball practice! Can't wait to see how he does....hoping he enjoys it! He's not the type of kid who likes to be dirty...so we shall see! I'll post more on that tomorrow...or maybe tonight!
