Omgosh...what a day

Today started out as any other out-patient surgery day. We got up early. I got Asher in the car and we headed into T-Town for his surgery.

They gave him his loopy juice and he was SOOO goofy! He was bound and determined to get out of the bed. I had to fight him to keep him safe! LOL... Finally I just picked him up and stood him in the middle of the floor so he could see how hard it would be to walk around. He almost fell over, so I put him back in bed. It didn't work at all... he kept fighting to get up! Finally when the nurse & Dr. came to talk to us, he settled down.

This was his first surgery, so we didn't quite know what to expect from him. Every kid's reaction to anesthetic is so different. His was no exception!

When he came out of surgery (that went perfectly, by the way), he woke before the breathing tube was out of his mouth... so he panicked a little bit. He thrashed around the bed like crazy. Finally he settled down, but they wouldn't let him leave the hospital until he could drink and hold it down. HAHAHA... little did we know what a challenge that would be!

He puked, and puked, and puked! They finally called an ER nurse to deal with him... he stopped puking for an hour & 1/2, so she released him. I WAS NOT CONVINCED! We were less than a mile from the hospital at 2 this afternoon and he had already puked 2 times in the car. I stopped the car...in tears... and called the Dr. They said to go right back to the hospital!

The surgery department sent us to the admitting... and they checked Asher into a room! UGH... they wanted us to stay until he could hold his meds and his liquids down. He puked and puked.... UGH! FINALLY 645pm was his last puke... and at 10pm they did the discharge paperwork!! WAHOO!

I am so exhausted! His poor eye looks awful from all the puking (busting blood vessels)... he's exhausted. We got home right about 11... and now I can barely keep my eyes open... good night friends!

(p.s. the gavin degraw pics will be here tomorrow...along with a couple asher surgery pics! sorry i am not taking the time to post them today)
