I have linked up with a great group of blogging ladies right here in good ol' Oklahoma! They are awesome because they're challenging me to write, AND I love reading what the other ladies are writing!

Today's challenge post:
Tell us about your love of Music!
AND... today is also my 600th post! I can't believe I've blogged SIX HUNDRED times in the last 4 years! What a fun journey! So, it's quite fitting that an anniversary post like "600" would be about something that I am passionate about!!
MUSIC AND ME!
For as long as I can remember, I have been singing. My mom tells a story about how, as a preschooler, I got on the dining room table and sang "Islands in the Stream" (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton). Every time I hear the song, it brings back happy memories of my early childhood!
In early elementary school, I sang in front of the church with my friend, Shannon. We sang "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem," and everyone in the church praised us for how good we sang! I like the traditional Christmas carol version, but I REALLY like the Sarah McLachlan version. It's so pretty with just her voice and acoustic guitar... BEAUTIFUL!
I joined the choir as early as it was an option. Ya know...in elementary school, you don't get a choice in the matter- every kid has music class. BUT, when I entered the 6th grade... middle school... it was singing because I LOVED singing!! I joined the choir and was involved in choir all the way through middle school, high school, and even in college! I competed in solo festivals and even received a voice scholarship in college. I love singing... SO, it goes without saying that I love music!!!
I am NOT at all a fan of metal music. I do, however, love any other kind! For example, when I want to sit back and relax, I could listen to Yanni:

Sometimes, I reminisce of my high school days driving out in the middle of nowhere with my friend, Stephanie... I picture us drinking our Barq's Root Beer with our windows down and the radio up and the
wind blowing through our hair! I listen to country music... here is one of our ALL-TIME favorites Reckless by Alabama- the video isn't the greatest, but the song will always be awesome!
OR, when I hear DC Talk, I am taken back to my early teens...hanging out with Brandi! We had EVERY SINGLE DC Talk song memorized! We LOVED them!! I am not sure I can pick out one specific FAVORITE from their albums, but here's one- "What If I Stumble"
At my wedding, my girls and I walked into the church along to the song, "From This Moment On" sung by Shania Twain and Bryan White. I still cry every time I hear it. With every new stanza...every time they switched to the chorus... another girl walked in. Until the climax of the song at the end- that was the moment I entered the church doors... the look on Tim's face will forever be ingrained in my mind!
My favorite era of music was probably the 70's & 80's Rock/Pop! I love it...it's when music was GOOD. Nowadays, there are good songs, but it seems like everything back then was good! I listen to Christian radio most often, but if I change stations, I end up on "oldies" ... it's kinda funny how the "oldies" are from my childhood...
Does that make me old???
I LOVE alot of your songs too :)
