When I was around 8/9 years old, I lost two super close friends- all in around the same year.
They didn't die (thankfully), but their parents moved out of town.
I was devastated!
I was devastated!
With one of them, I remember seeing the moving truck and just bawling. I remember, after saying good-bye, I got into the car with my mom and just cried! I didn't know if I would ever see her again. I didn't... but we kept in touch until high school. Then, she got involved in a gang... I never heard from her again. I think of her often and still miss her!
With the other, I honestly don't remember crying. I might have, but I think our moms did a GREAT job preparing us for the move. See, our moms were GREAT friends. I think they probably assured us that, while we wouldn't see each other every day like we were used to, we'd still be friends...we'd still get together... distance would not divide us!
And they were right!
We kept in touch via mail and phone calls and visits. We, to this day, can pick up the phone and feel like we've never spent a day apart! We live 1200 miles apart, but distance has not divided us!

Now, as a mom, I know how MY mom must have felt trying to console me when Frankie and Shannon moved away!
Yesterday, we had a playdate with Bella's little best friend, Izy. Her grandma was saying how they were at a loss for why she was having so many behavior issues in school when, last year, she did so well! Then today Izy wasn't at school. When I asked her grandma about it, I was told they moved her back to the school where she attended last year.
OH NO!!!
I told Bella while she was eating her lunch...
BIG MISTAKE!
She started crying and didn't stop for about 20 minutes. She didn't want her lunch. She just rested her head on my chest and cried.
I would be lying if I said it didn't break MY heart too! She was so sad about Izy. She wouldn't even talk- she just cried. And so did I!

When her heart breaks, so does her mommy's!
