30 Days about Me: Day 24- Family Dynamic?

Describe your family dynamic of your childhood vs. your family dynamic now.

Growing up, my family was very tight-knit. Since my mom was a single mother, "the village" helped her out a lot! My uncles were like my dads... my grandma and I were best friends! My mom worked very hard to be able to provide for me- and I love her so much for that! Every year for Christmas, we had a HUGE family dinner at my great aunt/uncles' house. I grew up with my cousins as a big part of my life as well! We were brought up in church- with a passion for God! Almost all of our immediate family lived in the same town- or in the surrounding cities... family was everything! We didn't have many "traditions," BUT whenever we were together, I felt love!

NOW... I have to say family is still everything! I don't live as close to all of my cousins and relatives as I did growing up, but my mom and my in-laws live within 30 minutes of my house. We still do family dinners for holidays - not just Christmas, but also July 4, Memorial Day, etc. I have a great MIL, so I am able to do "girls night out" with my mom and MIL! The kids are growing up to know and love their grandparents just like I was able to do! The only bummer is that they don't know their cousins. They only have one cousin- she lives with their uncle/aunt in Kentucky, Personally, I think Uncle Chris and Aunt Christy should move to Oklahoma to be close, but they disagree ;)

Stay tuned next time for Day 25: If you could have dinner with anyone in history, who would it be and what would you eat?
