Tonsillectomy: Day 1

Today wasn't AS BAD as I had anticipated. I had been forewarned that I wouldn't be able to talk for a week, and that I would be asleep basically this entire first day.
BUT I can talk! Granted, it hurts...and I can only say 3 or 4 words at a time before I have to swallow & take a breath... BUT I CAN TALK!! Yay!
Then, as far as sleeping, nope to that too. I HAVE slept more than normal, but I've been alert enough to talk to a couple friends, to see the kids for a few minutes, and to try to eat a little bit!

So, day1: not quite as HORRENDOUS as expected. Definitely not pleasant, by any means, amongst the puking and pain, but NOT as bad as anticipated! Wahoo! Here's hoping the rest of the time is better than I thought too! I have lots of meds (5, to be exact) to help me through, plus an ice pack for my throat, PLUS a BIG bottle of raw, 100% pure honey. I should make it through just fine!

Thanks for alll the prayers and checking-in-texts today... I feel loved!!

p.s. Dakota's surgery today went well also! The surgeon was pleased with the results! He had a rough day trying to keep him comfortable, but that's to be expected... Continued prayers for him would be great too!

So glad it wasn't horrible! Don't try to talk too much and set yourself back. Go for it with the honey, the vitamin E will help it heal and feel good too.
