Weekend Getaway!

My wonderful hubby took vacation for 9 days... and during HIS vacation, he let me run away for 3 days!

WAHOOOOO!!

My bestie, Laurisa (from college), is also my Mary Kay team leader. She lives 3 hours north of me, yet I haven't seen her in 2 years! UGH!! SO, I set off to go see her last Thursday. We stayed up late chit-chatting and listening to her 2yo fight sleep by screaming for 2 hours! Good times.... LOL! She had to work Friday, so I slept in until 10 AM!!! Then I had the quiet house all to myself until her 2 older kids got home at 4! It was amazing! I watched movies and crocheted without interruption... AND I stayed in my PJs all day! This was so awesome!!

Friday evening when Laurisa got off work, we drove to Omaha, NE (5 hours from her house), to attend this year's Mary Kay January Jumpstart. It's something our area does every January. Jumpstart is our time to get together and get recharged and refreshed... a time to get excited for the year ahead!

I had a blast! Two of our team came with us- Nika and Heather! They're awesome ladies, so it made it THAT much more fun! I loved this event because it was 50 (roughly) women of God coming together to talk business, but ALSO to give all the glory and honor to God! I left feeling so rejuvenated in my spirit!! Mary Kay's motto says "God first, Family second, and Career last.... this should tell you how awesome an event it truly was!

We had fun on our journey! Laurisa, Nika and I were picking up Heather at her house then going on to Omaha. WELL, we were giggling and talking so much we didn't realize that we had gone past the exit until we were about 35-40 miles away from her house! When we realized, we had to turn around, go back that 40ish miles to her house, then go again the way we had just gone! By the time we arrived in Omaha at the hotel, it was 1am ... UGH- we were SUPPOSED to have been there around 11! LOL- oh well, it was a fun drive!

When we arrived at the hotel, Laurisa went inside to get the room keys. The three of us stayed in the car. While we were sitting there, a drunk man in a wheelchair approached the car, spit at us, then wheeled to the front of our car and waved at us. He then went face to face with a wall to smoke a cigarette. Then he came back to our car and started tapping on our window. Heather thought if she waved maybe he would go away... WRONG! He started motioning for us to roll down the window... Heather was shaking her head 'no' about the time Laurisa started to walk back outside. The look on her face will be forever ingrained in my head! She had such a look of shock and disgust... we were cracking up laughing! Heather drove away to get away from the guy- he wheeled himself inside angry! Laurisa told the front desk that he was harassing us- so they encouraged him to go back to his room & they made sure we were on a different floor! It took SO long to go to sleep as we all kept picturing Laurisa's face and laughing hysterically! By the time I fell asleep, it was about 330am, and I had to wake up at 630 to get ready for Jumpstart! SO SLEEPY!!

When we took a lunch break, the girls and I went to Jimmy Johns (DELISH) and met my friend Kristi there too. Kristi is a fellow twin mommy who lives in Omaha- I had never officially met her in person, so it was fun to share lunch with her!

We finished up around 5pm and left right away to head back to Heather's house, then on to Laurisa's! We stopped in Aurora, NE for dinner at Sonic. We had never seen a Sonic with a dining room, so we went inside! It was hilarious! It was a dining room full of tables with phones.

HAHAHA... I've never seen such a thing! So, we took turns...ordering should NOT be this complicated!

We had been singing, "Blinded by the Light" all evening for some strange reason... Then, when were within eyesight of Laurisa's house... SO VERY READY to be home and in bed... we see police lights coming up behind us! UGH!!!! Laurisa wasn't speeding so why on earth were we getting stopped?? Well, glad you asked... her light above the license plate was out! REALLY??? With all the crime and crud out there you're stopping us because of the tag light...you could see the tag if your headlights are on the rear of the car! THEN, Laurisa's newest proof of insurance wasn't in the car so we had to wait for him to check the state database to see if she had any insurance. The whole time we were sitting there saying, "The house is right there...RIGHT THERE!" So, after about 10 minutes of being "BLINDED BY THE LIGHT" of his car, he came back issuing only a warning for the tag light and sent us on our way! FINALLY got home around 1130 and into bed by midnight! UGH!! We were all so exhausted! I slept Sunday morning until 9am!!

WAHOOOOO!!!

Then I set out on my journey to home! I had a great time and thanked my WONDERFUL hubby profusely for the great getaway! When I arrived home, I walked in the door to 4 awesome kiddos yelling

"HI MOMMY!"
"WE MISSED YOU MOMMY!"
"WE LOVE YOU MOMMY!"

As much fun as I had being away, nothing beats the love I received when I got home!
I love my bunch!!!
