Poor Asher

Poor baby Asher... not much of a baby anymore since he's almost 4... but we still call him that sometimes!

Just before I went into the kitchen to fix dinner, Tim announced for the kids to go to "room time"... that way they stay out from under foot while I am cooking! Well... Bella and Jonathan went in the room and SLAMMED the door. I didn't think anything of it until I heard the BLOOD-CURDLING SCREAMING coming from Asher. Guess he didn't make it into the room. His finger was stuck in the door frame- twins were holding the door shut...COMPLETELY shut on his finger. I ran as quick as I could and had to push on the door to get them to move and release his poor little pinky. It was squished to the width of his earlobe (best way I can describe how smooshed it was) ... and it was all different colors (granted, he had markers on his finger too). But OMG, I wouldn't even let him look at it until the swelling made it look more like a finger and less like a squished worm!

He screamed....and cried... and screamed for almost an hour. My mom came to look at it (she's a nurse) and she thought we needed to have it checked out. The pic here isn't too clear on how the whole end of his finger looks, but you can tell from the fingernail that it was painful! So, anyways, we went to the urgent care clinic around the corner from my house (thanking God they're close to our house)!!

They did a couple X-Rays on his pinky and determined that the end of his finger is fractured. So we left with a splint wrapped in a pretty blue bandage holding his finger in place. We get to go back next week to have it re-checked. Hoping it will heal well & without any problems! Poor little man!

  2. oh, that's horrible. I always tell my kids not to slam doors for this very reason. I might show them this post to drive home my point!! Hope he's well soon
