Asher turned 7 (2 months ago...oops)

My wonderful Asher turned 7 years old two months ago, but his busy mommy has been MIA in the Wonderful World of Blog! There is so much to update in my blog... I guess I begin here, with Asher's 7th birthday!

First, I started asking the kids these questions a few years ago on their birthday, and I love seeing the progression of their answers! (Last year is green, this year red)

And, every year, I write a letter to my kids...

To my dear Asher Monroe,

I am amazed by you every single day. You have gone from my painfully shy little boy to the kid that sometimes doesn't STOP talking! When you get started talking up a storm, I just have to giggle. It seems like not that long ago that I would cry at night wondering what to do to help you talk. I was so very worried about you. Nowadays, I can't even see that scared, anxious boy. You have become so lively and confident. You are making a difference in your world already, and I couldn't be more proud of you!

Your teacher told me that you are not only making friends, but you are helping the "bad boys" to make good choices. She told me about one day on the playground- one of the kids in  your class was being mean to someone else. You went to them, said something (she didn't know what), then that boy left the situation and started running around with you. You help kids do the right thing; YOU pull THEM up rather than letting them pull you down! You are a leader, and that is so awesome!

You love going to church and learning about God. You said recently that you think you'd like to go to Bible college like me and daddy did so you can learn even more about God! You received the gift of the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues... I firmly believe that it was the Holy Spirit who has led you out of the anxiety and fear you once had into this life of confidence! You have such a sweet spirit in you- I love seeing it continually evolve! 

You enjoy math the most at school! In fact, you often do math problems just "for fun" at home! You are learning to read this year, and I'm so excited by your progress. One day you sat next to me with Green Eggs and Ham, and I thought you wanted me to read it to you. Little did I know that you wanted to read it to ME! I had no idea how good you were at reading already!! Such a smart kiddo you are!

You are my love; my snuggle bug; my "Hershey Kiss!"

 I love you more than these words can ever fully express. 

You have such an amazing place in my heart.
