12-12-12 : 14 years

Wouldn't it have been crazy if Tim and I had our first day in 2000 instead of 1998? We would've been celebrating our 1st Date Anniversary today and the title of this blog would've been 12-12-12: 12 years! Crazy, right? Oh well, instead, it WAS 1998 and the timing was perfect! Just when I thought I was DONE looking for a man; I was moving away from everything I knew in Colorado to go to Bible School in Oklahoma. I had enrolled, in Rhema Bible Training Center to seek God.... to study scriptures... to prepare myself for ministry!!

AND THEN...

One great day in December, my friend Josh introduced me to his roommate. This guy he'd known since elementary school. This guy named Tim! Tim immediately tried to convince me to go out with Josh! BAH... LOL! Nope, that's not quite what God had planned for this meeting!!

Less than a week later, after MANY emails and conversations, Tim asked me out for dinner!

MY HEART WAS POUNDING!!!!!!!!

We went out to eat and one of the first things he asked me was, "What are your thoughts about love?"

DUH... Ummm.... not quite the conversation I thought we'd have on our first date.

He explained his feelings,

"Too many people say "I love you" to too many people, so I won't say it until I am ready to put a ring on a finger!"

and

"I will not kiss anyone until my wedding day!"

MOST women would run and hide from this man and his weird ideas, but not me!

Nope, I saw it as a challenge!

After all, I liked kissing, surely I could convince him to give in, right??

AGAIN, NOPE!!!!

Our first date was 12-12-98, he proposed July 2001... 2 1/2 years later. He didn't say, "I love you" until that day. I knew the moment he said, "Rachel, I love you..." that that was the moment he was proposing! Well, truth be told, when we lifted off in the hot-air balloon, I had a feeling that would be my proposal!!

You may be wondering how we expressed our feelings, right? Well, let me preface by saying we're dorks! We said one day that saying "I adore you" just seemed weird. Then Tim said, "why does it have to be a-door (adore, get it??), why can't it be a window?" SO, because we're "UNIQUE" (dorks), we said,

"I window you!!"

THEN, when we got married 9 months later- April 2002- we shared our VERY FIRST KISS with our friends and family!

So, today, we celebrate our 1st Date Anniversary. We have had 14 amazing years together... and I look forward to MANY, MANY more dates to come! I LOVE YOU, TIM!

You know you're a mom if...
