Naptime?

At what point did your kids stop taking naps?

In the Boni house, Xander still needs/wants naps on occasion ... Asher stopped somewhere around 3 years old- he'll only take one now if I bribe him! (yes, I AM "that" mom!)

Well, for the last week-ish, the twinkies haven't wanted to take a nap. They're SO much more interested in playing in their cribs. As Tim says though, as long as they're contained and "resting," they'll be fine... I just enjoy the quiet. BUT, that said, if they don't take a nap, then by 6pm, they are the crankiest kids alive! Today, for instance, they resisted napping... all the way until around 440pm. I always get them up by 5 so they will still go to bed at bedtime. SO, they got about a 20 minute nap... THAT'S WORSE than no nap at all! They cried and whined for about 30 minutes. UGH...

I don't know what to do.... they go to bed at around 730pm (sleep by around 8ish), and they are awake around 7ish am. Studies show that kids the twins' age need 12-15 hours of sleep per day... so with only about 11 at night, the NEED a nap... right? They're sleep-deprived...right??

Then I have to decide...do I need them to nap more than they actually need it? I KNOW that for selfish reasons, I want them to nap... but surely they need it, right??

FRUSTRATED MOMMY!! UGH!

  1. If they are not going to nap any longer give them an hour of quiet time and then let them get up. Make bedtime at 7:00 rather than waiting until 7:30 - 8:00. I still think you should try the nap mats to see if it would work. What have ya got to lose.
