I was reading a book recently in which a pastor of a huge mega church passed away. His wife stated that she felt like he was never actually a believer. His son was shocked by that accusation. After all, his father had led so many people to the Lord. His mother explained that, as the Bible says, followers of Christ will show the Fruit of the Spirit. She continued to say that her husband, this son's father, had never produced fruits of the Spirit in his life.
Followers will be known for the Fruit in them-(Galatians 5:22-23.)
LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, and SELF-CONTROL
I have realized that my fruit is not always "fresh"... sometimes what I'm presenting to the world around me is rotten...
I challenge myself today to take a look within. When I speak or act, am I exemplifying Christ by showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?
Or, am I exemplifying the world by showing hatred, depression, strife, impatience, rudeness, cruelty, unreliability, harshness, and lack of discipline?
I want my life to show Christ. I want everything I say and do to reflect His Spirit within me.
"Create in me a clean heart, oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, oh God. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of my salvation. And renew a right spirit within me."
(One of my favorite children's church songs from my childhood based on Psalm 51:10)
So I challenge you now....
Is your Fruit fresh or rotten?
If the world knows you by your Fruit,
are they seeing Christ?
