10 on 10

On the 10th of every month, several of my blogger buddies post 10 pics taken in 10 hours! Today is my day to share with you a day in the life of the Boni Bunch.  Our day started out pretty crummy with the A/C leaking and flooding into our food pantry and hallway... so my pics will reflect that ;)

Here we go.....

730am- Assembly line chocolate milk

830am- My super cool laundry bag

930am- My life-saver that sucked up the water from the soggy carpet

1030am- Got tired of sucking up water- decided to pull up
the carpet and padding in the pantry :(

1130am- My break from the house! Took A to speech therapy :)

1230pm- Lunch for kids when mom needs a little help!!

130pm- MIL playing the Wii with the kiddos!

230pm- This kept us going today while fixing the central A/C!
Thank God for window units and fans!! LOL

The Boni Bunch napped... NAPPED... from 3-5 today... WAHOO! So no pics were taken during that time. I was too busy napping- which I NEVER get to do! I enjoyed every single second of it too!

SO... now I'll pick up at 6pm:

6pm- Zombie Xander

Then- I missed 7pm... so a couple hours later we went to McDonalds for ice cream and I captured this AWESOME picture for my final 10 on 10 post:

9pm- The Boni Bunch

Homemade Finger Painting Fun

The Boni Bunch spent the morning with our friends Jackie, Trystan, and Cameron! The kids played and the mommies talked! It was fantastic fun!!

Jackie found this recipe for homemade WASHABLE finger paint so we decided to try it out! We had to triple the recipe, so here's what WE did...(it called for dish soap, but we had a 1 year old playing so we used baby wash):

6 Tbsp sugar
1 C cornstarch
6 C cold water
3/4 C baby wash
food coloring

*Mix sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Slowly add cold water. Cook over low heat stirring occasionally until the mixture is a semi-clear gel substance.

*Allow it to cool. Add soap.
*Divide into containers- we had 6 different colors, so we divided 6 ways.

*Add food coloring and mix well. More coloring = brighter colors!!

-----------------------------------------

Then we let them play!!
All 6 kids!!

Asher painting

Cameron painted himself!!

More painting
Figuring out what to do with the paint!

THEN after painting was done, we put them all in the backyard to play in the sprinkler & wash off! They smelled SOOOO good- like they had just got out of the bath tub!!

Love this recipe...definite keeper!

I can't believe you are 8 years old!

To Xander,
I am writing this letter at the very moment you were born 8 years ago.  I can't even believe it's been 8 years since my heart stopped. The doctor told me, "I'm sure he'll be fine, but he's not getting mad enough. He isn't breathing well, so he's going to the NICU." My first baby... I should have held you as soon as you were born, but instead several strangers did. Thankfully, I only had to spend about an hour and a half away from you before they brought you to me and said you'd be okay!

This was one of our first moments together:

I had no idea in this moment how much you would change my life! You were the first amazing addition to our family... you were the first of the Boni Bunch! I remember one day when I was feeding you, a commercial came on the TV with the song, "You are So Beautiful... To Me." All I could do was sit and cry with joy... God blessed me so much with you- you were indeed "Everything I hoped for... everything I need... so beautiful to me!!"

You have the biggest heart of any kid I know- you still give your buddies hugs... you still give mom and dad kisses... you love to comfort your brothers and sister if they get hurt. Even your teacher this last school year said, "Xander has such a sweet spirit- I don't know many kids who are as kind as he is!" Everyone who meets you loves you!  I love when you say, "Yes ma'am" - you are so polite!!

You have such a creative mind. You can see a picture of a Lego creation, then go to your box of THOUSANDS of Legos and dig through until you find all the pieces you need. Then you build what you just saw. Granted, it's not your ORIGINAL creation, but your artsy side shines through for sure! I'm not sure I could build them even with step by step directions, and you do it all from memory of how it looked! I am in awe of you!

I love you so much, Xander! I am so proud of you- you are such a smart boy! You have learned so much in school- how to read, how to add and subtract, how to count by 2's, 3's, 5's, 10's and more!! You are so inquisitive- always wanting to learn more...always asking questions! I love your passion for learning!

I hope birthday number 8 is the best one yet! One of my goals in life is to make you happy! To give you a life that you can look back on and brag about to your friends and eventually to your own kids! You have grown up so much in the last 8 years... I can't wait to see what the next 8 have in store for us!

Happy birthday, Xander! I love you!!
